Reel 2011

This is my new reel. This is a compilation of works I participated in during the last years. I worked a as a character TD and supervisor in all the projects doing all kinds of tasks, modeling, rigging, skinning and deformations, fur, dynamics, and render.

nr_autorig tool v1.0 !!!!

Hi!! This year I have made a few updates because I have been very busy working and studying. For the last couple of months I have been learning mel with my great friend, team mate and mentor Eduardo Graña , whom I´m eternally grateful!

Here is a sample video of the new rigging tools I've made with mel scripting. It's a modular auto rigging tool where you have a dummy with some placement objects, and different options for each part of the body. You can make each part separated or the whole rig, and build or break the connections of each part from the rig and replace it with an updated part or some other type of rig.
I'm working in some features I didn't finished yet like the uparms and legs twist distribution, iks space switching, and some other stuff.
The strongest part is the internal attributes that build the squash and stretch features of the rig and the volume preservations of each part. The way this network is build let you modify and adapt the proportions of the arms, legs, and body parts, and recalculate the squash and stretch features. I'm also working on a tool to rebuild automaticaly the whole rig with the modified proportions and become a new default character. Ok...so...here is the first video...I hope that you see it all and enjoy it....

rigging development

FACIAL RIG

Here is a sample of one of the latest facial rigs I made here at REINO.
It is based mainly on rigged faces with joints and freeform on mesh controls. I have also combined some facial blendshapes to have more intentional control over some deformations. The blendshapes system isn´t completed because a matter of time, but anyway... it´s done on advertising times!! They are controled via on mesh controls and a list of attributes that clamps the values for the blendshaps.
Nowadays I´m working on refining this two systems to coexists together,
here is s little sample.

TEMAIKEN_REINO

The new Temaiken spots! They are about the species you can see on the zoo. The lemur, bats, and hippopotamus!!!
The characters are very funny. I made the models, rigs, skinning, facial rigs, textures, shaders, fur setups, ilumination and renders. They are done in maya and renderman.

This is the latest spot of "mama lucchetti". We did it at Reino. The spot is having a lot of success!!! Enjoy it!!!

This is the last spot we did at Reino in 2009. Is a tv spot for twistos.
I made the woodpecker poly modeling, uv layout, textures, shaders, Rig, skin, fur and render tests. This is my first bird Rig. The wings rig is very complicated, especially the wings fold.

RATA - RIG

PRIMER RENDER CON FUR
Este es el setting de fur de la rata, en pose T. Luego voy a subir algunas poses y en algun mometno animacion. Hecho con maya shave and haircut y renderman.

Mi ultimo rig. Es una rata que estamos haciendo en Rein para un cotro. trate de hacer un rig toon con buena defomabilidad y squash and stretch. Lo mas complejo para mi es la pata por el diseño y proporcion y el hecho de que es cuadrupedo y tiene un hueso extra.
Tiene un rig de brazos muy completo, y facial con controles locales on mesh.
Me falta agregarle dinamicas de jiggle y colisiones. Estoy haciendo el pelo, estetica, dinamicas de pelo y render, asi que cuando vaya teniendo mas cosas las subo.

Philipe Rig - McFly Studios

Este es un rig que hice para McFly. Esta bastante completo y tiene unas propiedades dinamicas entretenidas, global scale, gimbal overrides, etc. Las dinamicas se pueden bakear en tiempo real con un script para animar el control del vector de direccion del viento. La cara tiene squash and stretch y el cuerpo tambien con presevacion de volumen.

Humantis - auto breath

Volvio humantis. El rig lo subo en unos dias. Voy a tratar de sacar unos renders con displace y textura y demas.
En este caso necesitaba un valor que oscile entre 0 y 1 para que afecte al blend shape de respiracion. Utilice el seno,(float $breathSin = sin (time * $breathFrecuency);) que oscila de -1 y 1, para obtener el valor de 0 a 1 utilice la funcion linstep, tiene un input, un minimo y un maximo, todos los valores del input que van dentro del rango ingresado (-1,1) me los devuelve entre 0 y 1, un atributo de frecuencia del seno y otro multiplicador del resultado para variar el weight del blend shape. Bueno al final del video esta la expresion, no lo se explicar muy claramente. Esta es la expresion:
